Superlift 2" suspension lift

Superlift 2" suspension lift

Under Construction!

Before / After

I installed this 2" suspension lift against all warnings from ZR2.com
and s-seriesforum.com members. I am still working out some little
bugs, like the passenger side Camber. This mod was a good compliment to
the Daystar shackels I previously installed.

First, Raise the vehicle by the frame. Remove the front wheels and loosen the
upper control arm at the frame, and break loose but not seperate the
upper ball joint. Then remove the brackets that hold the ABS and brake
line to the upper control arm

Next, loosten the torsion bar adjuster bolt until you can see the bottom of the
indexer in the window the adjuster bolt reciever mounts in. Install the torsion
bar indexer holder tool (pictured) and remove the adjuster bolt and bolt reciever.

Now loosten the torsion bar indexer holder, which loosens all torque on the
torsion bar, push out the torsion bar, and out falls the indexer.

With the upper control arm loose, and tension off the torsion bar, remove
the nut holding the ball joint to the hub. Next, remove the shock, and the
bolts holding the control arm to the frame will come right out, as will the
control arm.

Hopefully you allready ahve the Superlift control arm prepped for install.
If not, install the upper ball joint, and the drop snubber, grease the bushings
and install them into the control arm with the metal sleeves through the middle.
Install the control arm into the frame, use a rubber mallet if needed
to help it along. I set the accentrics to center until the allignment.
Attach the ball joint to the hub and tighten to spec and install the cotter pin.
Next, re-install the shock, or install the new one (for some reason, I waited a
week before I ordered new shocks). Now modify the bracket for the ABS wire so
it mounts to the rear ball joint bolt on that side, and attach it. Next, install
the ABS wire and brake hose brackets to the hole on the bottom of the new control arm,
you might have to bend the tab out of the way. You also want to install the lube fittings
and grease all fittings, put in plenty of grease, this is thier first greasing, and might
take more then normal

Install the new indexer opposite of removing the old one.

Set the ride height which will be slightly higher then before
(1-1 1/2" if T-bars were cranked, 2-2 1/2" if not), and align,
if you aren't at an allignment shop like I was, set the toe as
close as possible with a tape measure, otherwise you will grind
off the front tires in a short time.

Good Luck,

Project 96 GMC JIMMY
